Lovely side plate in one of the more hard-to-find Ashworth's Chinoiserie patterns. Featuring peonies and many other flowers.

This is heavy ironstone and early - we think most likely from around 1870-80.

In 1862, George Leach Ashworth acquired all the patterns, copper plates and trade marks from the renowned Mason's Ironstone. The designs were then issued under the name of Ashworth's Ironstone and became a fashionable china for the aspiring middle classes of the 19th century.
